He may be too young to go out on his own....knowing the feeling and the process to go through. Holding it us one thing, but then knowing to go out without you is another (I'm assuming that's what you mean) We just took our puppy out regularly, praised her like crazy etc., but it took a while for us to let us know when she wanted to go out. Now she talks to us, but she's 15 months.
