Those lights are super long (ie, ~6ft) icicle lights that we hang from the inside - so no worries about wind and weather. Maybe you could hang from the inside too...?

Here is a shot from last year, something new for me in the last couple of years was starting a collection of tree toppers, I love how they look all standing up together and my husband made the stands. I change out things like lampshades, pillows, throws, valances and so fort to a burgundy color, the rest of the year things are paler in shades of greens and beige florals |
