Make sure you have a crate to put them in while in the car. We drove our 2 pups home (12 hours) and they were in the crate during the drive even though my husband drove. I would have loved to have held them on my lap but I think the crate was a much better and safer solution. We got them out every few hours to potty and walk them around. The crate was big enough for a much larger dog, but small enough to fit in the back seat of the car. They had more than enough room to move around comfortably in it and didn't take up 1/4 of the floor space of it.

I lined it with pee pads and a blanket for them and some toys. I had a small dish of food in it but offered them water at stops so they wouldn't spill it. They had the food everywhere in the crate, but it was just dry food so no big deal.

When is the trip? Good luck!
