My Teddy sometimes has stinky breath caused by dry mouth and I believe something digestive related. I'm not sure why his mouth tends to be dry, especially when he sleeps. He is a good water drinker.
Teddy also has a weird digestive system that can cause moments of bad breath. No health problems, but he is more sensitive than his brother (same parents), and he can be a little burpy and gassy. When he is upset over a thunder storm, the bad breath comes out.
I've also noted that mustaches and beards can retain a lot of smell that can be mistaken for bad breath.
