Mine are on 100% premade raw diet, mostly Primal. Occasionally Stella & Chewy's freeze dried. They never got sick from eating raw food...I've even given them pieces of raw chicken breast & ground turkey & they did well. I saw a documentary about chicken & salmonella & they said supermarket chicken & turkey have the most bacteria, esp when cut up
...but they never got sick.
I've read that a dog's digestive tract is short (shorter than us humans) & also acidic, so there's little to no chance of them getting sick since the raw meat will pass quickly.
I've been very lucky to find a new vet here that supports raw feeding. He described that a dog sick w/salmonella will get very sick, lethargic & will lose their appetite. He doesn't see dogs sickened by salmonella often.
