My pets are rescues, so I've never had the chance to start a tiny pup, but many ferrets start right off the teat. Perhaps it was because it is chicken, instead of a different meat.

The younger of the two was 6 months when he started eating raw.

Most of my raw experience is ferrets, for sure- it's impractical to feed my dogs raw (I have a service dog) but I feed supplemental stella and chewies patties as treats.
