I just stumbled on this thread, but it's exactly the point I'm debating right now. Dogs are not allowed at the start of the Iditarod, for obvious reasons. You don't want pets distracting the athletes. But for me to go to the restart of the Iditarod means leaving Eddie and Jack home alone for more hours than I allow them to be home alone. Do I put them in a carrier and try my luck bringing them to the event or do I abuse them and leave them home alone for 8 hours? I chose Plan C: I'm not going to the restart. I'm staying home with my dogs.
