Boarding How I feel for you and understand. I hate leaving my boy too, but rarely I need to go somewhere that he cannot come with me.
I have looked for a suitable boarding sitter who will be there most of the day and take great care of him. Because of health issues he needs to be fed special food four times a day, and that is not an easy requirement to have a sitter do. My dog also needs some coaxing to eat if I am not there! So he may not eat!
I have been advised that a vet boarding is the right thing to do, but I cannot imagine him being in a cage most of the day, being alone at night and I fear him picking up some disease at a vet's.
Having someone in my home means the person cannot live their life and will probably not be in my home watching the dog too much.
I have not had much luck with boarding before and found that however well I researched, the experience has not been what was promised. So I am still looking and hoping I find the right sitter....but it is so hard. So I wish you good luck and hope that you find a fellow dog lover who has a good experience with a great sitter. It so happens I am going through this process as you are and it is so stressful. Oh that I had a close relative nearby who would love and care for him as I do. |
