I thought they would have been eating food at 7 weeks but I have certainly never done any breeding so? I asked the breeder and he said they start slowly at 6 weeks with soft food and are not fully weaned until 8 weeks.

This just seems so bizarre to me. By 7 weeks, I assumed they would be fairly stable. Obviously, they need to eat regularly to avoid Hypoglycemia but it is my understanding that as long as you are paying attention and catch it fairly early, the blood sugar drops are pretty easily remedied with Nutrical or the like. This is being reported as being a complete turnaround overnight. They are blaming it entirely on the mama dog and say they will not be breeding her again.

I did get my deposit back, thankfully.
