Barney did fine in the small carrier at night, but I only did this with him for a few weeks until I felt he wouldn't try to jump off the bed. And I put him in my bed in the carrier. We called it his sleeping bag. He was much more comfortable being able to sleep with us than he was in an big open pen in the other room.

As for peeing outside, I totally get this. My husband and I felt this way too. Maybe try keeping him in a confined area until he's fully vaccinated.
