This is the only reply I am going to give you on this topic - but I definitely don't think your advice is more qualified than mine and that was a pretty nasty and condescending post you wrote to me who was just giving advice to another poster asking for other foods as her dog did not like RC - Acana is definitely an alternative.
I am a breeder that has actually USED the product for over 30 years...what are YOUR qualifications? What is YOUR valid, first hand results of your critisism of RC? I did not rant over the use of Acana...I ranted because you summarily dished RC, and used such a ridiculous source for your information/knowledge base on dog food, as the dog food advisor, to summarily state RC was no good! You lost all valid credibility in justification of your criticism of RC with that referenced knowledge source! I have evidenced based results from using RC in my breeding kennel...not just paid recommendations from the "the dog food adviser". It is most certainly NOT a cheap food, so it cant be said I feed that because of profit margins. I feed it because it has been an important building block in my breeding program that has kept my dogs healthy and beautiful and disease free.

YOU said you changed to another brand from RC because of what you read from YOUR "bible/leader" on dog food. You did not say you were having issues with the RC, you just read something someone threw out there that professes to be a genius on all dog food, a genius that gathers his validation from the dog food brands he promotes, oh by the way.....and you are throwing THAT out as "the truth", "the way", "the light".....

There are thousands of brands out there that thousands of people feed. If someone PREFERS a particular brand or method, great!! Be an advocate for that brand or method....but it really peeves me when someone says any dog food is "no good", solely based on a paid campaign such as the "dog food advisor"...... Throw out valid information for people to use, such as recalls, etc....

Feel free to promote what YOU use, but dont throw the rest of us under the bus, especially based on such a joke as "the dog food advisor"! There are hundreds of thousands of people that use RC, and have done so with excellent results, for many, many, many years. I have actually visited their facility and seen the way the food is tested and produced and re-tested....I have seen the staff of vets, vets of all specialized systems, nutritionists, breeders, etc., they have on hand that contribute to the information that is utilized in the production of RC....have YOU???

People feed what their pups eat and what they can afford to feed and what is available to them. The first thing people should do, in my opinion, is pull up recalls...check out the history of recalls on any dog food you want to feed. I personally would avoid any dog food that has been recalled numerous times, especially for strange contents, questionable additives, sick pets, etc..... Be aware of what dogs can actually safely eat, and the age appropriateness for particular food.....I almost killed an entire litter, feeding raw meat because I thought raw would be best for them....WRONG! I almost killed them all because they were too young to eat raw meat and it caused an overgrowth of bacteria in their systems they were too young to fight. Did you even consider the issue of this baby being only 5 months old and the owner is already getting into switching and swapping all over the place, trying to get a dog food this youngster will eat...this is causing mass confusion for the pup and turmoil for the owner. If the pup will eat the RC by adding a little chicken or broth to the food, THAT would be better for the dog than jumping and hopping all over the place, trying this and trying that, ....leave the baby on the RC, add some little cooked carrots or pieces of meat, and stop the merry-go-round of changing dog food...you are creating a huge problem, trying to cater to the whims of the baby...when this baby is a year old, it will be better able to tolerate changing out to either a different brand if you choose, or advancing the pup to the next age appropriate RC formula that is available to you....but you are creating a monster by switching and swapping and changing around all these dog foods! Pup will eat the RC if you add a little meat or broth, do THAT! Contrary to what "Reinell" and her guru, the "dog food advisor" says, RC is indeed an excellent food and unless your baby is unable to tolerate the food, it will be a great source of nutrition for your baby. Just dont be getting all caught up in the confusion of swapping all over the place, or you are really going to have a mess on your hands that will persist for years!
