It depends on who you know and who you have coming in. I take care of my friend's dogs for $10 a day. This includes going to their house 3-4 times per day and letting their dogs out. I bring in their mail and spend some time at each visit playing with their animals. I feed them of course whatever their schedule is and make sure they have water at every visit. These people are within a few miles of me, most are neighbors that I can walk to though so no gas needed when I am only going 3 blocks or less.
I am sure I am very cheap, but I like to help them out. Their dogs get to stay at home and still be cared for without being kenneled at a strange place. I make money and they save by not paying kennel prices.
I am sure other people charge a lot more than me, but as a stay at home mom if I watch their dogs for a week and make $70 that is awesome for me and only a bit of work that I don't mind doing.
