I have the scalloped stairs too, Lola loves them, she always uses them to get on and off my bed. She also uses them for doggy yoga (stretches on them) and rolls her toys down them.
I have a basic metal bedframe, boxspring, and pillowtop mattress, the large scalloped steps work well.
I bought regular pet steps for the couch when she was spayed and she wouldn't go near them.
