Yorkie puppies are black and tan as pups like dobermans. They change until about 3 years old, when their whole face should turn gold, as will their legs and their saddle will change to steel blue. Well that is what is desired. Mine are totally overly light, and Toto is almost completely platinum. But there are some that are adults that stay dark. Many people like that look too bc they say they always look like a puppy but I disagree bc their face is usually all gold, a telltale sign of a mature yorkie.
