I am glad to have found this article. I have zero desire for my girls to have commercial anything. I have been cooking them chicken and rice and giving them the occasional bite of barbecued pork (and I mean bite, since it is so heavy and rich). I am planning to use different lean meats and eggs for protein and I am going to read this article through again for starch/veggie ideas. I wrote to a forum on Facebook today about the diet I have been feeding and how I am noticing improvement in these two since they got here last week. I was told I was going to give them pancreatitis and that I needed to get them on kibble asap. Seems my research indicates that kibble IS the problem! Still I want to be careful! This article makes me feel better about things but I am going to proceed with caution. Thank you for posting this! Besides, who wants to eat the same exact thing everyday? We would get bored and I have been around dogs long enough to know they get bored from monotony also. |
