Another good book is building the canine athlete by Chris Zinc


A trot should be smooth for the terrier - reach to the nose - drive back behind the rump. The distance the paw should be from the ground in movement is the length of the paw.


You will need to learn the jargon of movement and the jargon of faults. And then to recognize them when you see them.


The best time to evaluate a puppys structure is at 8wks old. It is then that you will see what you will get - always barring accident or injury or illness. Temperament is pretty well set then to. I do have a stickey here somewhere on evaluating a puppy.
