Acquired a Yorkie 2 months ago after the death of a coworker I acquired a 9 year old female yorkie after the death of a co-worker 2 months ago, so her sister would not take the dog to a shelter. Her name is Allie. My co-worker, we found out before death was a hoarder in a 3rd floor apartment, and Allie had been trained to poo and pee in the apartment. At first glance of the dog, her back was hairless and her skin was flakey, she was very fat and stressed out. When I got her home, and put into the backyard on grass, she just froze, she did not know what grass was, I just could not believe it. We took her to a vet and got meds for an eye infection, yeast infection in her ears, and a good diet for her. Next stop, a good groomer and spa treatment. She just woddled when she walked. She was over 11 lbs. My goal was to get her healthy, get her potty trained and to find her a good home. We have gotten her to a healthier weight, her hair has grown out on her back, no more flakey skin, she is healthy and can actually run now. We also engaged a trainer, as we also have a 9 year old poodle, who is not happy about Allie in our household.
We are looking for a home for Allie. I thought in going to this site someone could direct me to a good site for advertising and what's the best avenue on screening potentials homes for her. Any information will be helpful. |
