I also watch my friend's dogs for them here and there and charge a reasonable price for them to be in my home and loved on and cared for. I think it makes being away from owners easier if they are with someone they know.

Do you not have a friend or relative who might take them for you during this time? I have some neighbors I have knows for many years and usually their teenagers will come over to the house and stay most of the day with my dogs and take care of them and sometimes even stay at the house while I am gone. I take my Yorkies with me whenever I can though, but if I have to leave them I have them cared for in my house.

All of my friends/neighbors that I trust to watch my dogs have day jobs and would have to be away from my dogs for 8 hours at a time....nevermind their social lives and errands/gym/etc. other stuff they have to do. My dogs need to potty every 3 or 4 hours, so that won't work. Also, I would want someone around the clock to be with them in case they do have medical issues. One dog has a collapsed trachea, the other dog has a reverse sneeze. Both have arthritis and cornea problems. One just dislocated her shoulder last week because someone rang the doorbell and she ran to the door and wiped out...fell and pulled something. Luckily the xrays show no breaks. But, these dogs are just so fragile.

I travel with my dogs as much as possible, but we are going overseas in the Fall, and it's just not possible to take them.
