Is your kiddo a pup? If so, they may tear more as pups bc of teething. You want to look out for greenish discharge or if it's overly smelly, as this can indicate an eye infection...for that, you'd need a vet.

When my kiddos have hard crusties, I turn on the warm water and run a small soft toothbrush under the water - I then dip it in the water and comb it over the area, getting more water as I go, and eventually all the goo comes off softly and without pulling.
A dedicated small toothbrush for this purpose is a great idea! We use a flea comb with closely spaced teeth, but a soft toothbrush is even better for separating the hairs and removing the gunk.

We start with a wet cotton ball to soften any boogies.

If there is staining, the hair has to grow out completely without any further staining. I finally got rid of Teddy's stains, and now Max has them. Started with spring allergies.

We are missing our favorite facial shampoo too. Need to order some more Spa Fresh Facial Cleaner. Jenny at toplinepet.com also has a couple of great facial cleansers and she offers a YT member discount.
