My back yard is full sun, so my umbrella takes a beating and gets faded so quickly. I spend a ridiculous amount of money buying a large 10ft umbrella to provide some shade and would have to replace it every year for it to look good. All the mechanics are fine and the cost of the replacement top is almost as much as buying a whole new umbrella.

Any suggestions?
If the cloth is totally removable, you could def try Rit Dye or any fabric dye and see how it goes. Worth a try? If the umbrella is attached, you could then try fabric paint, perhaps...?
