This situation reminds me...... I had a sister in law one time that had a personality disorder....she had medication she was supposed to be taking but she thought she was just fine, it was the rest of the world that was crazy....whenever anyone was around her, we tripped all over ourselves, walking on eggshells, trying to remember and avoid what all SHE thought were cruel, inappropriate, brutal, humiliating, off colored, ludicrous, or incongruous remarks, comments, or conversation.....we would all sit, afraid to open our mouths, afraid of inadvertantly insulting her or hurting her feelings. When anyone would screw up their courage and make a simple comment or attempt to start a shallow conversation, there was always a palpable, nervous pause, while we all sat, waiting to see how SHE was going to react. Tooooooo much drama for what you got in return.....spending an afternoon around her left you exhausted and mentally and emotionally drained....the "risks" began to far out weigh the "benefit" of being in her presence. | Haven't been on YT in a couple weeks. Amazed to see a post on food. After reading a few just short of a knock down drag out fight. Staying away from the topic is exactly what I have told myself, along with a few other HOT topics. In life's conversations I also make it a point to stay away from topics such as religion and politics. Your story about your sister in law reminds me of a girlfriend my son almost married (Lord have mercy on us if he hadn't come to his sense's) She loved drama, when one spat cooled off she'd start another. It was constant and exhausting. Sometimes I really think some start these hot topic posts just for the drama. And hook, line, and sinker she catches some. Not All are looking to argue. so don't jump on me to defend your intensions . but it makes sense to me to just do a search on the topic here first as it has most likely already been hashed out many times. I didn't see any bulling on this post. Nasty ones may have been deleted as I just read today. All I saw was a few smart a__ replies which don't offend me. I like all humor. Life is too short, a good laugh can lighten up your day. JMO |
