LOndonTeaTime - This is how the Health Department works.
If they saw you in a store with a dog - they would first ask you to leave. Then they would speak with the store manager and remind him that dogs are not allowed in his store and that an employee should have ask you to leave immediately- they would ask why this hadn't happened and remind the manager of the fine he could be given - and they'd make note of this finding on their report regarding this particular store. (This is what would happen if the Health Inspector was doing his job.)
The Health Department often gives warnings - but they do not give warnings the second or third time around. They impose fines! My brother-in-law owns a restaurant, and wouldn't you know it ---a Health Inspector is one of his regular customers. We all know this man well and have discussed his job with him many times.
I agree - that many of you have gone in and out of places many times where your dog isn't allowed - without anyone saying anything to you. What can I say!
