Are Telomeres The Key To Aging And Cancer?
The above link tells you about telomeres and their role in the human body.
There was some new research mentioned on my radio station that I only caught a snippet of - but sounds exciting. Apparently researchers have found a pattern with telomere rapid shortening then a period of quiescence and the telomeres act/look normal again - then 2-3 yrs later a cancer diagnosis is made. This appears to happen across all cancers.
Obviously more research is needed - but wow if in our lifetime they could actually tell who is at risk - and how to stop or eliminate that risk - can we really be looking at a cure for cancer?
