How was it diagnosed?
My dog has a profound collapse at the thoracic level. He does better with a little humidity. We sleep with w small humidifier on, but the air in the room is cool. I add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil into the water in the humidifier. You have to keep it very clean or it can grow mold which is bad.

I have him on twice a day hycodan and he is on Temiril-P right now but is being weaned off.

One thing I will say is that elevating the food bowl was the best thing I did for him, he was choking on food due to the pressure on the airway.

I can show you the small little humidifier I have, I have to change the water every day but is perfect for my medium-sized bedroom.

Also, taking him into steam when coughing really helps. But you can also ask your vet for medications to be kept on hand - hycodan or other cough suppressant. My vets also have offered bronchodilators but we haven't really felt that it was needed.
