I am glad you cancelled. You will feel so much better being able to take her home. I would want my baby home with me. Our vet only keeps them if they are not doing as well as expected. I have never had one have to stay. I usually get a phone call that the surgery is over and they did well and that they will call me again later in the afternoon to tell me what time to come get them. Then they call me later and tell me to pick them up around such and such time. It has been great for me.

I plan to get my boy puppy fixed around 5 1/2-6 months. Then get my daughter's girl puppy fixed around 8 months. I want her to have a little more time to finish growing and developing. I am hoping if I plan for 8 months it will be before she goes into heat. I have had several female dogs fixed at 6 months old and wished I hadn't. Maybe it was coincidence that they doubled in size after being spayed, but I want my daughter's puppy to be mostly grown before we do this.

Good luck and I am sure you will feel better having them home with you to recover.
