I stand by my last comment as being 100% fact!
"I applaud the work of the legitimate rescues, but, only they would truly know their numbers."
A good waitress is still a good waitress even if she doesn't report every dime of her tips. So, I wouldn't condemn a rescue for a little fudge on the paper work now and then. It's just those real greedy bastards that have made it into a paying hobby that have people so irked. They would be the illegitimate ones.
I'll add, any rescue or shelter that gets an otherwise unwanted dog into a loving and caring home is ok in my book. Keep up the good work LJ. |
Yes, there are cheaters everywhere. I think what I was really trying to say is the most who do what YHR does, really don't have money to cheat with. One look at the 990s would show that. You cannot fudge expenses if they are paid directly for vet care. And anyone who thinks a rescue can make money over the amount that some rescues pay for vettting needs to try to do the same.
I agree that there are bad ones....just as there is bad in everything. Very sad .. I wish all rescues were accountable to some kind of standard rules....same thing for breeders. But, as you know, any time you try to regulate anything animal related, people come out with their fangs and claws out.
Thanks Mark.
