My living room where I keep them during the day is hardwood. I can try using blankets as rugs and we do have some yoga mats. I am worried jumping down from the couch is hurting him too, we have steps for our bed but I can't seem to find pet stairs compact enough to fit by the couch. I wish I was a handy person, I'd make them myself. Thanks for all the I put I will try to make some sort of cushiony area for him to walk on.
