I'm also wanting to replace my 13 year old w&d but when I started reviewing not one stood out with rave reviews. I got so overwhelmed as to wht to do I haven't bought anything yet.

When I looked into the front loaders there were 2 complaints that stood out. One being the smell of mildew, some people claimed the odor was because the drum was on it's side a small amount of water would remain under the tub unable to completely drain out. The other complaint was that it broke at about the 3-5 year mark. There's a part called a "spider" that is attached to the back of the drum that would corrode and disintegrate. One day you'll be doing laundry and then you'll here a loud clunking sound of the drum flopping around without the support of the "spider. So I ruled out front loaders.

I didn't have much luck finding a top loader either with rave receives. I did find a forum that consisted of appliance repairmen who felt the only decent machines out there are the ones made by Speed Queen because they tend to make machines for laundry mats. So I went to the only store in my area that had them, but I just couldn't get past the plain look of them. They are very basic machines if that's what someone is looking for. So my hunt is still on.

I hope your machines are exactly what you looking for they are very nice looking.
