IMO I think the breeder should have considered the Right Puppy for the Right home. I hate to tell people with small children that I don't believe a little yorkie is right for their lifestyle.
Now there is heart break. Small children cannot be blamed for being rough they are not yet mature enough to know.
I think you are doing a great thing before something bad happens.
I usually recommend a larger breed for families with small children.
