The chip hasn't bothered her, but I think it bothered me more as it had moved from the back of her neck to her rib cage area, right where her harness goes around her. It seemed to stay in that spot ever since so I have to watch her that she don't get irritated in that area of the chip. The vet said it can move around under the skin, it doesn't always stay up in the neck area and it shouldn't ever be a problem.
I think that is best - wait until they are already going under to get it done (no pain and get everything done at once) - wish we could have that done with us (dentist, OBGYN, etc...all in one visit )

The moving around is what bothers me, even though it will probably never bother them! BUT do the people with scanners always scan just the head area or do they scan the whole dog? Okay, I know, I am paranoid and crazy Also, how did you know that yours moved and does the harness rubbing against it cause pain? - Just curious!

There is actually a GPS watch that you can have your child wear . You can track your child online and it will show you a map and tell you within a few feet , the street address where you child is. I honeslty considered buying this watch for my 9 yr old daughter. It has two buttons. One button if pressed for 3 seconds, it contacts the police and she can be tracked. There is a monthly fee for this like $20 a month. The watch costs $180
There is also a GPS collar for dogs and it works the same way. If your dog runs off or is stolen ,you can immediately go online and get a map and street address of where your dog is. The only problem with the collar is that it is best for dogs that are bigger than most Yorkies
That's cool! I will have to check that out - even though it is pathetic that we as parents have to go to such extremes now! I like that idea better than implanting something into our children - I mean, it would be good for us parents, but as they get older - I know I wouldn't want everyone to know where I am at anytime. Not that I ever do anything bad!

I think the problem with the watch, just as the GPS collar, is that it can be easily seen and therefore easy to take off - but I think it is a great idea. Maybe they will come out with GPS earings or chokers or socks or something! Not poking fun at a horrible situation, but you see it on movies all the time, you would think that they would really come up with something that will protect our children and be able to stay on our children!

If I remember correctly, my grandfather had one of his coon hunting dogs microchipped when they first came out, but I want to say it was in its ear - has anyone heard of that? Maybe that is where they first started out putting them.

Thanks for all the info..........you all are the best!!!!
