Please do tell them what he's saying. Whether from his illness or his sudden shock, fear and mental anguish and stress, he's likely not in his right mind and the professionals and all the support you can get for him may be needed to help him safely get through this awful time. He may be too afraid to face the news he will learn Friday, fearing only the worst. Something to tranquilize him and professional counseling could be helpful for him right now and maybe even hospitalization if his doctor thinks that is necessary.
