I guess here is my thought. If you don't want it that's fine. I was suggesting to at least look into it because it's easier to come up with $30 a month than $5000. No one HAS to take it. But the thought of having to put one of my babies to sleep due to vet cost is heart breaking. I have read numerous threads where this is considered. Or having to turn them over to a rescue so they can get the care they need. I think owners need to know its out there. Research it then make your choice. I pay a whole lot more for my health insurance, my car insurance, and my house insurance. Hoping I never have to use them; however, I still have them. Why? Well I can't cover the expense without insurance if I NEED it. They give me peace of mind by having the coverage. I can't live in the it won't happen to me world. It did happen to me when seven years ago my home was broke into and they stole everything I had worked my whole life for. At least my insurance helped replace some of the items. So, in my opinion, dog insurance is basically for the same reason. Peace of mind and there if I need it. To me that's worth the monthly premium I pay. Just my opinion. To you that enough money to cover a $5000-$10000 surgery I am happy for you. Sadly my family would hurt financially if I had to give that money upfront. Therefor we will continue having insurance coverage on every dog we own. Lily came from a great breeder yet I still have her covered. I just am not willing to take a chance.
