Default car sickness yorkie solution

Hi Helen, I also have a toy yorkie that gets car sick. However, unlike Scarlett, my yorkie has always had car sickness issues since the day I got her...I mean, I literally can't even drive her down the road without her throwing up. This was a major concern for us, considering my husband and I have family in various states, scattered through out the country, and we travel quite a bit and would NEVER consider leaving our baby behind. So, years ago, I asked our vet at the time for a solution to this issue and she simply suggested DRAMAMINE(a motion sickness relief medicine). You can get this over the counter pretty much anywhere. They have different kinds of Dramamine, such as, original(WILL make your dog sleepy), less drowsy, etc...
When my yorkie was a puppy, I was advised to give her a quarter of the pill(she was only like 2-3ibs). Now she is about 7IBS and I give her 1/3-1/2 of the pill, which was the suggested dose from my vet. THIS HAS WORKED LIKE A MIRACLE!! I am telling you, this works like a charm. I typically use the original formula for my yorkie and it never seems to make her THAT sleepy. Whenever we stop or say the word "potty" she instantly wakes up. I have been using this for years and it is the only thing that has seemed to work. I even tried the more natural remedy of putting ginger on her nose but nahh that definitely didn't work.
The only downside to this is, YES it's a pill, so unfortunately you may have to "help" your dog take it. Maybe someday they will develop a liquid form, which would be helpful.
So no, your trips with Scarlett do not have to end...Just get the less drowsy formula. OHH, AND BE SURE TO GIVE HER THE DOSE ABOUT 45 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING IN THE CAR, this way you can be sure that it's kicked in and will work. GOOD LUCK!! Hope this helps(:
