I have always considered Nascar a "redneck" sport and I have an uncle who is obssessed with it! He has 2 rooms dedicated to all things NASCAR, a memorabilia collection that spans years and a ton of money invested in this stuff! He holds season tickets to Bristol Raceway (in TN) and goes to Daytona every year. While I was staying with them 2 summers ago he took me with him to the Bristol speedway for the Sharpie 500 and I have to tell you, I had the best time! We stayed in the bazillion dollar motor home, tail-gated in the parking lot and I LOVED it! It has grown so much and he explained the history to me and the growing industry, etc. There is such a stigma and stereotype surrounding it as a "sport" and I question it as well, but I have yet to meet a crowd that large full of NICE people!
