We had one of our girls microchipped, the vet injected it when she had her dental and under anethesia. She's only 5 lbs and pain from it wouldn't be felt then. He said that he'd never administer it if the small animal was awake. The chip hasn't bothered her, but I think it bothered me more as it had moved from the back of her neck to her rib cage area, right where her harness goes around her. It seemed to stay in that spot ever since so I have to watch her that she don't get irritated in that area of the chip. The vet said it can move around under the skin, it doesn't always stay up in the neck area and it shouldn't ever be a problem. |
