lol, they are so funny, I had a girl that was the same way, I had a pack of 3, the baby waited till a chewy was started then would take it from one of the older girl that started it, lol. Cody's growling is not acceptable to me. All my past girls I raised from 8 weeks old, I could take anything from them and they would never growl. I adopted Cody 14 months ago, he was then 2 1/2 y/o. He's a super great, wonderful lil boy, I have taken things he stole off the kitchen counter, like a hot dog roll lol, even raw sausage, he had it half eaten when I saw him, I still don't know how he got these off the counter, I PRIED the sausage out his clenched jaws, no growl. Also ran to the phone, called the vet, RAW SAUSAGE. Was told to watch his stool, (which I do ALL THE TIME) So kinda baffled by me just petting him when he was chewing his very first Bully stick. Like I wrote after much thought I came up with, it must have been his first chew stick ever and was afraid I was going to take it from him, last night I was able to pet him with no growls, he laid on my lap while chewing, I cannot tell you how happy I was, I knew he trusted I would not take it from him. I will continue to give him chew things, at some point I will try to take it away from him while he is chewing and see what reaction I get. That's the bad part about rescuing / adopting, their back ground. Cody came from a very loving home, not abused physically, but from what I was told from a family member of his, he under went a lot of stress by the womans BF. I will work with Cody on this growling.
