Smile Protein and Kidney Disease

Hello, I have been dealing with yorkie being diagnosed with kidney failure (one year ago). We put her on a low protein diet prescribed by the vet (Royal Canin LP). I used both dry and soft food. She was also prescribed medications for high blood pressure and a phosphorous blocker as this helps the kidneys more than low protein.

I find that many vets are quick to tell patients their dogs are dying from kidney failure. As a last resort, I took my dog to a holistic vet (who practiced Western vet medicine for 30 years). He looked at all of her blood work and urine analyses over the last year. He said her kidney levels did not indicate she was dying and it was acute pancreatitis that was causing severe inflammation and making her kidneys worse. Through acupuncture and other treatments, a change in diet, my dog is eating again and has gained some weight.
