You are right. It could have been a vet situation, but what it was, really - he was sneezing bubbles, when I wiped his nose there was blood on the tissue. I then noticed he had blood in his mouth also. I actually think he might have bitten his tongue or something like that, and a little blood was going down his throat as he sneezed. It seemed like it was going on a bit too long, so as I was holding him and trying to access the situation, I thought I might check here and get some thoughts. He has had no problems with it since then.
He had been to the vet 3 months ago, his eye was running a lot and I was concerned about that, the vet determined that he had torn his cornea. He put him on antibiotic eye cream and said to bring him back in a month to sew it shut (so we don't have to look at it). I did not like the idea of sewing it shut, it seemed mean and harsh. The eye has now healed except I can see the cornea is still trying to repair itself.
Beau is a rescue pup, he was so weak when we got him, he could not stand on his back legs, and frequently toppled over if you clapped or something. He is now 4.5 pounds, but has gained 2 pounds since we got him. He had a ratteley chest, so I walked him several times a day to clear his lungs.
With 7 dogs, we frequent the vet, we use the 'top' vet in the area, but he doesn't always care so much about minor things; he acts like you are silly or something. I have been to at least 5 area vets, even the holistic vet; and I think chatting with some of you is more helpful at times, because I know you have a lot of experience with your own dogs as well.
The problem is, once they say 'take him to the vet ASAP', I didn't think I could bring them down to discussing it. Look at my signature, & see I have a lot of dogs. Check my join date, and see I have been a member for a very long time, thus maybe having a yorkie for a long time.
I was on here every day for a year or so, but I could no longer bear the meanness shown to new members, 'stupid' people, even people who could not spell or typed something by mistake. Reading here today shows me that has not changed.
You guys can be very kind and informative, too. Loving to those who have lost animals. So keep up the good work! Sincerely. |
