The vet did check for soft tissue injuries, deep abscesses, etc...right? We inherited a 'walkup' adult male kitty years who turned out to have a huge deep abscess which did eventually rupture in the vet's hand during an exam. No one knew it was there. Changed kitty's personality completely. Just remembered it...
