What is causing his limping.. We have a f/w apt on Sunday(coming up) and at that time I am going to a specialist.
Can it be growing pains? |
Okay let us recap and recoup for a bit
your dog started limping 4 days maybe 5 days ago. He has basically been on crate rest and pain killers (hopefully an anti inflammatory). Your vet did Xrays.
Now has your vet had the Xrays seen by an orthopaedic surgeon? In other words consulted with a specialist on the Xrays? If not find out why - and hopefully the right views were taken and for ease of transfer to the specialist they are in digital form(that is just irritating not so important) as your vet can courier the old fashioned Xrays over to the specialist.
Okay starting from the paw, has your vet ruled out - pawpad or nail injury - metatarsal and or ankle joint problems, then the big one for Yorkies - the knees - Luxating Patella for a starter, okay and now we are up to the hip. Here we have the Xrays - did the vet do palpation of the hip joint - extend the hip - and flex the hip and move the joint all around?
Now before we go on - it is quite possible that 7-10 days of crate rest with the anti inflammatories could do the trick ---
I would ask for a referral to the specialist - get the name etc, but wait a few days more. I would if the vet has not had those Xrays reviewed by a specialist have the review done.
Lets see what your vet says on the recall appointment. Lets hold out hope that it is a simple muscle strain.
