If sleeping, ZoE will usually go all night and not potty until morning. But that doesn't mean I expect her to do that during the day. I've only ever had a yorkie, and has always pad trained, so they've had the option to potty whenever they needed.
I personally think every dog should have potty options while owners are gone, whether by pads or doggie doors. IMO its cruel to do otherwise. To expect your dog to hold it, regardless of stomach upset, or how they are feeling day to day, what they drink, etc., just seems wrong. How many owners never utilize a bathroom between leaving home and returning home? | No that I disagree with you although small dogs are too small to be outside alone so a doggy door when your gone is a terrible idea especially for one of the most stolen breeds. But I never go bathroom in a public restroom so I never go when I'm out. I think I have gone 12 hours at the most lol
