Uni didn't get her first heat until about 13 months. I was starting to worry what was wrong with her. I didn't get her spayed until 3years old but that is another story. I think around 8 months is ideal for spay since most of the baby teeth that would have come out on their own would have by then. Then the ones that won't come out can be taken out at spay. If there are many baby teeth when spayed too young, some vets will either leave them in and say they will come out on their own (and if they don't will result in double rows of teeth or very crooked teeth), or will take out all the baby teeth (that may have come out on their own) and charge you for each extraction.
