Yes, I would *absolutely* medicate my dog for this amount of itching. Also, "hot spots" is just another name for a localized pyoderma infection (staph intermedius) - so you truly want to prevent those if you can by decreasing the irritation and histamine response via using the meds. Unless hubby would prefer a widespread, full body staph infection...???
