My pups have been fasted many times for tummy troubles. They get over it. Not my favorite thing to do, but it is hecessary, esp. for Ellie.
ETA: I do not follow my vet's every word and thought. But once you have a pup with severe tummy trouble or pancreatitis...you stop feeling too guilty and just do it.
