I did some research on Consumers Report and was disappointed no vacuum cleaner got rave reviews. You would think someone could invent a vacuum, that is lightweight, cleans really good, does not sound like a jet engine and doesn't cost the same as a new car.
If you can get on their site consumersreport.com they compare all models . I ended up with a Kenmore upright when I bought a new vacuum. It's a joke at my house how many vacuums I burn through in a 2 year period.
I have heard the Shark is a good vacuum also.
