Secondly, 3-5 days is the best time to have it done, IMO. If you have never done this yourself, PLEASE have a vet or exeperienced breeder teach you how the first time around. It will be less stress on you and less likely that there is a "goof." It really is not expensive at all to have done, plus this will give a vet/experienced breeder a chance to have an early look at the pups and possibly spot a problem early on that a less trained eye may not catch. (I'm not preaching, I am new too and live by this philosophy at the present time.) Let me know if you need help finding a vet to do this for you. For the initial check, tails and dew claws, my vet charged $45. A small price to pay for what you get/avoid in return.
