Wondering why this skin issue is making you think of Cushings - are there other symptoms or something?
It could just be pyoderma (staph intermedius), which is treated w/ oral Simplicef, usually for up to 30 days. You'd need to go the vet and get a skin smear.
The skin issue in and of itself doesn't sound like Cushings to me. Btw, Cushings can start even earlier than 6...my Wylie got it around 4 or so.
Are there any other symptoms like hair loss, frequent drinking/peeing, weight gain/pot belly, hind leg weakness, "old eyes" appearance, recurrent ear/skin issues, lethargy, heat intolerance....etc...?
