My Dog Meika was diabetic. Canine glucose meters (I had Alpha Trak) are calibrated differently than human meters and use different test strips (at about $1 each). I have to say that pricking her and getting a drop of blood from her ear (recommended place for dogs) was the most stressful thing I ever had to do.
You are better off to get the pup eating properly, and have some Nutrical available to give the pup if it does not eat, and you see signs of hypo. |
Yes he is very small and only five months. I do not yet have him, the breeder I'm getting him from wants to hold him until at least the end of the month to try and get him to gain a little more wait because he's still having hypoglycemia problems. She says he eats fine so I'm not worried about that I'm just worried that he might have an episode when I just get him when he's going through stress from transitioning to a new home.
