MLPH Genotype?Melanin Phenotype Correlation in Dilute Dogs offers more info re the phenotype of CDA and what the relationship is in terms of care. From what I can tell, it appears that there is some follicular build up as a result of the condition in SOME breeds but nothing which is fatal. Obviously, any dog with any sort of condition such as CDA should not be bred as CDA is as a result of a gene mutation.
Have you spoken to your vet about what additional care may be required? From what I can tell, the most severe cases of CDA results in skin lesions which can be treated. Therefore,
I think it is vital that you do not get the condition "blue born" and CDA confused and a vet should be able to put your mind to ease if you are confused by any confliction info/opinions re: these conditions.
