Of course the decision is up to you but it is my prediction that there is no way you are getting rid of that cat. The fact that you took the cat into your home in the first place tells me all I need to know. You have a very tender heart and love animals. Not all cats but most cats I know are very low maintenance. I am a person who tends to follow my heart. You do what makes the most sense to you and it will be the right thing.
